We were able to replicate the problem when both Open Shell is installed and small taskbar buttons are enabled. While this does appear to be a bug, it seems to occur only under these specific conditions. We strive to support third-party taskbar extensions as much as possible, but occasional conflicts like this can arise.
Unfortunately, the underlying cause is unclear and would require significant time to investigate thoroughly, with no guarantee of a definitive fix. As a more immediate solution, we recommend disabling the small taskbar buttons. This will revert the taskbar to the standard button size and should resolve the issue.

Okay Andrew, thanks for looking into this. After your comments I tried the following:
(1) Open-Shell still running but Windows setting, 'Use small taskbar buttons' - switched to off, no fix, issue remains.
(2) Exited/shut-down Open-Shell v4.4.191 but retained small taskbar buttons. Result, the problem disappears. Would now assume the 'whatever' interaction between NetWorx and Open-Shell (though that will be mediated by Windows I would suppose) is the issue.
I'll just live with the issue as I don't use NetWorx's 'Display Speed in Taskbar' all that often anyway. And I definitely won't do away with Open-Shell as if it wasn't for that I wouldn't use Windows 7, Windows 10 nor Windows 11 anyway as their default so-called Start Menus are utter unusable trash that defy ease of use.

Thanks for the additional feedback.
It's a bit puzzling that we're seeing different results - disabling small taskbar buttons resolved the issue on my end, but it persists for you. This could be due to differences in Windows or Open Shell builds. We'll keep this in mind and look into the issue further if time permits.
I appreciate your understanding and willingness to work around it. If anything changes or if you encounter new information, feel free to reach out.
