This is more of a FYI in case anyone else has this problem. I needed to update my VMware application to the VMware-player-15.5.2-15785246 version. When I tried, the installer failed. It turned out it does not like temp and tmp pointing at the ramdisk. Probably doesn't like it pointing anywhere other than the usual spot. After I relocated tmp/temp back and rebooted, I could install the latest VM

Although I haven't seen it re-occur since those 2 times, I turned off the HDD emulation. The only downside I can see is that I can't test it's speed with HDtune, as it doesn't show up in their device list. But that's no biggy as I only used that for bragging rights, to say how fast my disk was Is exFAT completely compatible? Can I have arbitrarily big size files? I thought the FAT/FAT32 variet

I've just started getting a similar problem. In the past 2 days, twice on reboot, I would find some of my startup programs would die because the temp directory is not on my A: ramdisk. I run several programs at boot time which create a few dozen temp files, and so they end up sprinkled on my desktop. I had not had any problems for months until just recently. Thanks for the link. It's been about 3 weeks without a problem. I'll save your older version, but I'm not having any issues. It must have been a problem with the VWware changes I made. Rock solid so far. As long as it ain't broke I won't need to fix it. I'll keep the older version in case something does happen. Thanks again.

It just occurred to me that with fixing my VMware bridge issue, I won't have to switch to nat and back. So if indeed there's a conflict there, I should not have to do that again, and perhaps not have any more issues. I would like to make one last suggestion (I promise) : to have a setting to disable the threading code that's been added recently. If I do get another crash, I could then check if

Sorry, 3.4.7 I was being sloppy, really just trying to distinguish between the free and paid versions, since the paid version has a change to deal with large ramdisks working in a version later than 1803. Found it by trial and error. It seems that after I had installed wireshark on the host, VMware was setting the bridge to use the npcap loopback adapter. My other VMs didn't have that checked off, and worked in bridge mode, so I just tried the same for it. And it works, now the Network Scanner sees this VM.

Ok, as you suggested, I just completed the Windows memory test, which I set for the advanced mode. It ran overnight with no errors. I've run this before, when I bought the second 16GB ram about 2 months ago and tested it through the night then as well. (I've now got the crash dump tool installed. Do you know how to force a minidump so I can see if I get these errors with the old ramdisk. What tool did you use to see those memory errors? Is it something I can use easily? I want to uninstall the latest version and reinstall 3.7 which I've used for nearly a year without a problem. If that too reports these errors, then I'll believe it's my hardware. Otherwise, the timing of the new driver

I have a minidump file, I see that spvve.sys is on the stack (as reported by nirsoft's minidump analyser). That's as much as I can see.
