Thanks rmpf2. For now I'll keep an eye on it. I think logical solution would be to fix the column to its colunm number, should there be a condition set, then any newly added columns populate other column numbers?

Hi Andrew. I was just going to start a thread on columns, but as there's one here, so I'll tag to this. I have two columns that I keep colour-coded: Logged User and Caption (wmi to query PC name). Now when I add an additional column, the Caption column loses its colour-coding, and the new added column adopts it. Is there any way to link the colour to the column name rather than to its position?

That would be great Andrew. I can't think of another utility that would rival this functionality. Best John
Feature request: interactive bookmarks and appendable scan results

Thought of a good idea to take netscan up another level. It would be a pretty big update, so may not hit the next build! I'm thinking of how bookmarks could interact with the application. What if the bookmarks were displayed in an expandable explorer type view down a new left-hand column (A bit like Outlook). Clicking on a bookmark in left column displays the last previous scan in the main re

Hi Andrew. I've discovered a bug with the latest build, which seems to relate to modification to the IP Bookmarks. What happens is some stored bookmarks that have more than one range, have their values transposed, rather like a mirror image. This invalidates the range and causes errors. Rolling the build back to previous build, adopts the erroneous bookmarks and so becomes a corrupt config. Not

Just found a small bug in the Shortcuts section. If you try to remove a key command to display "None" you get the error "already mapped to About" Just tough I'd make you aware. Regards John

Feature request: complete rescan of highlighted nodes

I find I do a lot of "complete rescanning of computers" currently its 3 clicks through sub menus. A nice feature would be to highlight and press ENTER (or shift ENTER) to give you complete rescan of highlighted nodes. Please don't accuse me of being lazy Cheers John

Many thanks as usual Andrew. I'll have a play with it, only I have a large bulk of them in the spreadsheet. :-P

HI. I'd like to create a spread sheet of my Netscan Bookmarks. I've exported them to CSV, however, bookmarks that have more than one range, export into a format I cannot recognize (example below) Is there a way of converting the data back to a friendly IP address? I've tried ASCII to Decimal and hex to no avail. Example: North - Leeds | LEEDS 1st Floor IT 10.46.5.1 10.46.5.254 170788353-1

I find Netscan comes in handy if your firefighting known infections. just scan for a know rogue remote file, or in the case of Conficker c:\windows\tasks\At1.job You can also use pskill with commandline added to netscan to kill those rogue process' Also scan for know rogue regkeys. But as Andrew states, Antivirus should be the first line of defense, with a central logging system

Yes that now works Because of the limit on the number of host's I have to specify an OU (<LDAP://OU=Leeds,OU=Desktops,OU=England,DC=Eng,DC=xxxxx,DC=co,DC=uk> It would be an advantage if Netscan remembered your last string each time. At present it defaults back to the default root.

Yes we have an forest containing a root domain, then 5 child domains. Maybe if there was an option to specify a domain controller, it would the make the connection?
"A referral was returned from the server"

Hi, Just tried your new build, using the feature Get from Active Directory. I just get the error: "A referral was returned from the server" Do it require full Domain Admin access, because in our enterprise, I don't have that level of access? Cheers John

When I suggest netscan caches last 5 scans or so, I mean the actual scan results, so you can go back/forth historically, maybe storing the data in %tmp%. Useful as in the end of a day when hosts may be switched off, you can still recall hosts scanned earlier for any reason, maybe to wake them back up etc, or just for speed to save rescanning a network range.

Yes if one digit is manually changed in the range, then the bookmark name disappears?

Any chace of considering these on you next Build andrew? Cheers Quotejohn8oy While I'm on, Another good feature would be, when you load a Bookmark, it would be good if the loaded Bookmark name displayed on the Title bar. Also it would be good if Netscan cached your last 5 or so scans so you could switch back and forth, a bit like a web browser, Displaying the Bookmark name if available. C

Feature request: removing a batch of PC's from a scan list
10 years ago, by john8oy in Network Scanner Forum
Hi, It would be a nice feature if you could right click and remove a batch of PC's from a scan list. For example, I have a scan list saved of PC's that need a windows hotfix applying. When a PC comes online, I run a psexec to apply the hotfix. I'd then like to remove that PC from the scan list and re-save it. I'm then not duplicating admin. Rgds John
