Persistence of friendly names for MAC addresses

Are friendly names persistent for future scans when they are tied to MAC addresses? Are they stored somewhere in the program DB or a config file? If not, how can this information be saved and re-imported? It would be extremely helpful if it could be persistent. This is for a local subnet only.
