Ways to improve IPv6 scanning success rate

Hi,
I am writing to inquire about ways to improve the success rate of IPv6 scanning.

I have enabled the IPv6 scanning option, and the results are inconsistent. While I have over 30 devices using IPv6 on my network, the scan typically only identifies about 10 devices, and occasionally as few as one or two.

Are there any settings or configurations I can adjust to improve the accuracy and reliability of these scans?

Thanks,
Dave

It's difficult to pinpoint the cause from those symptoms. As a first step, you could try increasing the number of ping attempts and the timeout in the scan options — this sometimes helps on networks where IPv6 responses are slow or intermittent.

However, this kind of inconsistency usually warrants a closer look at what's actually happening on the wire. I'd suggest running a packet capture with Wireshark while a scan is in progress, filtering for ICMPv6 echo requests and replies. Comparing what Network Scanner sends against what comes back will normally reveal the underlying issue: whether responses are being dropped, rate-limited, filtered by a firewall, or simply not arriving from certain hosts.

If you can share a capture (or a summary of what you observe), I'm happy to help interpret it.
