Daily HTML reports not sending on macOS

I have three Macs and all three have stopped sending me the daily HTML report. So, I went to NetWorx Settings - Reports tab, selected my only report, clicked Test, and received this error:

Error running report
Unknown host 'api softperfect.app'.
Socket Error Code: 0($0)

Two of my Macs are running release 26.6.2 (25G83), the other Mac is running beta 5 of macOS 27. How do I correct this issue?

I tried removing the NetWorx application, downloading it again from your website, and reinstalling it. Getting the same error result.

This error means your Macs can't look up api.softperfect.app in DNS, which is the service NetWorx sends reports through. That's why reinstalling NetWorx app didn't help - the app is fine. The domain is also healthy. We have just checked it, to be sure, and it resolves everywhere.

Since all three of your Macs failed at once, the culprit is almost certainly in something they share: your router, your ISP's DNS, or something in your setup.

To check, open Terminal on any Mac and run these two commands:

nslookup api.softperfect.app
nslookup api.softperfect.app 8.8.8.8

If the first command fails and the second returns IP addresses, your DNS is the problem. In such case, to fix the issue:

  • either allow softperfect.app in your router or ISP security feature (xFi Advanced Security, eero Secure and the like often block domains quietly),
  • or switch to public DNS (System Settings → Network, select your connection, click Details, open the DNS tab and add 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1).

Both nslookup commands failed, which gave me the idea to take a look at my firewall rules. I discovered that there was a bad rule blocking api.softperfect.app. I deleted that rule - and everything works now. Thanks for the direction that gave me a clue where to look.
