RAM Disk sequential speed slower than Primo Ramdisk in CrystalDiskMark

Hello,
I just tried your RAMDisk, did some benchmarks and found out that SoftPerfect RAMDisk is way slower in terms of sequential speeds. I have 2x 32 GB of DDR4 @ 4 GT/s and in both cases I tested with no disk emulation. Could you please check it out?
I ran a similar test with the standard profile in CrystalDiskMark, and it came out mixed rather than one-sided.
Primo was 41% faster at sequential reads with Q=8, 2.4% faster at sequential reads with Q=1 and 1.7% faster at sequential writes with Q=8. Ours was 32% faster at sequential writes with Q=1, 63% faster at random writes with Q=32 and 6 to 14% faster at random reads. The numbers are in the screenshot.
Which test profile are you using in CDM? And what's your exact CPU model? I suspect Primo may be using AVX2 or AVX-512 optimisations, which is something we can look into.
Hello, try using the NVMe profile from the Settings menu; the difference will be even more significant. My CPU is an i9-9900K with AVX2.
That explains it. We've worked out how Primo gets those results: it spreads I/O across several CPU cores. We'll do something comparable in ours, and hopefully better.
I'll get back to you in a week or so.
Version 26.1 now performs on par with Primo. It processes I/O in parallel on multi-core systems and uses SSE, AVX2 or AVX-512 for memory operations, whichever the CPU supports.
The screenshot has the comparison. We're slightly faster in some tests and Primo leads in others, but overall they're about equal and both make full use of the hardware.
It's in 26.1 and every version since, on the RAM Disk page. I'd be interested to see the results from your system.
Hello, yeah, now the performance is very similar, good job and thanks
