I just scanned the program file on VirusTotal and it was flagged as malicious, containing trojans.

There are no trojans in any of our products. What you are seeing is a false positive. It is a common erroneous flag for this class of software.

Why it happens:
RAM Disk and RAM File System both install a kernel driver, which heuristic and machine-learning malware detection engines treat as inherently suspicious. They can flag a new build simply for its reputation ("freshness") rather than for anything actually found in the file. The latest RAM File System installer was released two days ago, which reset its reputation, so right now is exactly when you'd expect a couple of engines to produce false positives.

What you can do:

  • Make sure you always download our software only from softperfect.com site. Using a third-party download portal or mirror can give you a tampered copy.
  • Right-click the file you downloaded, open its Properties and look at the Digital Signature tab. Everything we publish is signed by SoftPerfect Pty Ltd with a timestamped certificate. If the signature is there and valid, the file is genuine and unaltered.
  • Detections of this sort usually clear within a couple of weeks. To speed up the clearance process, please submit a false positive report to the flagging engines from your side as well. Anti-malware vendors tend to move faster when requests come from multiple customers/users.
