NetGenius or NetWorx: which should you choose?
NetWorx and NetGenius both show how your computer uses the network, so you may wonder which one you need. They are built for different jobs: NetWorx measures and reports your traffic in detail, while NetGenius controls the network access of each application.
NetWorx
NetWorx is one of our longest-standing products, refined over two decades. It counts your traffic precisely and keeps detailed reports by day, week and month, which matters when data is expensive or capped. It can also test your connection’s speed, record when it goes down, and warn you before you pass your allowance.
Choose it if your data is limited or expensive, if you have peak and off-peak allowances to watch, or if you want to check your provider’s bills. It is available for Windows, macOS and Linux.
NetWorx can also monitor network adapters directly, including virtual ones, and works with more VPN software than NetGenius.
NetGenius
Today many people have large or unlimited data plans and worry less about how much they use than about how fast their connection is and what each application sends. Almost every program now connects to the Internet.
NetGenius was made for this. It shows the bandwidth of each application in real time, lets you set their priorities and limits, and blocks applications from the network, giving you control over your privacy and security. It also lets you manage it from another computer. Because it works so closely with Windows applications, it is available for Windows only.

Using both together
It is best to choose one, but if you run both, set NetWorx to monitor your network adapter rather than applications: on the Main page of its Settings, choose Monitor a network adapter on this computer or a remote router.
