Re: Convert Networx Data / Database to other file formats

8 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

I am not sure that is even possible. Wireshark expects a set of network packets captured from a network interface, while all NetWorx keeps is statistical data, i.e. date, time and number of bytes transferred. How do you expect this to work?

Re: Saving results to XML with filter applied loses hidden results

8 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

This isn't a bug, rather an implementation detail. If we change it in a way that filters are not considered when saving, it would be impossible to produce filtered XML datasets, say if someone wanted to save only database servers to one XML file. I'll check if we can add an option to include the filtered-out items when saving to XML. UPDATE: The latest build now offers a choice of what

Re: Putting page file on a RamDisk with HDD emulation

8 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

While it's true that the HDD emulation may fix some crashes, namely when third-party drivers don't expect to encounter a standalone volume without partitions, it's not related to a page file. Unfortunately storing page file on a RAM disk isn't officially supported and it's generally a bad idea. If you have enough RAM, simply turn off the page file - it's not needed. As you may know, the ide

Perhaps this article can help: RAM Disk refuses to install - how to uninstall completely.

Re: Hang on login screen in Windows 10 CU with Boot Disk

Looks like this is some kind of Windows issue. We'll try to reproduce it and see if it can be fixed, thanks.

Re: Inordinately high data usage in Windows 10

9 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

Well that's rather expected I guess. It would need to send at least three ARP packets and one or more ICMP packets to see if a device is there. If you are using version 7.0.7 or above, it would be done in a few threads simultaneously, sending tens of packets per second. This can be reduced by lowering the maximum number of threads in the settings. The background scan uses 1/10 of the maximum n

Re: Inordinately high data usage in Windows 10

9 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

I guess if you scan 150 addresses continuously (for how long?) there will be a lot of data sent back and forth. Especially with many scanning options enabled. A single scan round shouldn't cause too much traffic though, unless you do things like scanning all ports 0-65535 on each device.

Re: Supported versions of Mac OS

It should work on macOS 10.6 and higher, though we don't have older versions to test it with. Please submit a support ticket if you are experiencing any issues with these systems.

Installer should not reset the auto startup setting

Apologies, I have accidentally deleted the topic about NetWorx installer creating a startup entry even if not desired. We will make it an option in the next release as shown below:

Hmm, it's hard to say what may be causing that. Did you redirect any user folders to the RAM disk?

Re: Saving Results Behavior

9 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

I guess it's either related with a newer version of Windows or a change in the underlying component library the app is based upon. Somehow clicking a file name remembers its extension too. As a workaround you can try typing the file name once, copying it to the clipboard and each time you want to save in a different format paste it in the dialog.

Re: Notification area too small on high DPI screen

Thanks, we'll fix it shortly and post an update here. There is another feature request for the notifications: to have a "Remind me later" button. We'll add that too.

Re: Downloads via Internet Download Manager are not recorded

9 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

It's usually possible if you have ticked Ignore local traffic within the LAN option in the main settings. If that is the case, I recommend to untick this option and monitor a specific adapter instead. Installing a different driver, that is WFP instead of TDI might also work. We have an article here that recommends to try a different driver should there be any issues with monitoring.

Good idea, thank you! We've just added saving the chart height in the latest builds.

Re: State of the graph on Windows startup

9 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

In NetWorx for Windows the graph generally remembers its last state. If it was open before shutdown, it will be shown again after a restart. If it wasn't open, it will likewise be hidden after a restart. If you use SQLiteSpy to open the NetWorx database, it can be changed in the database file: In NetWorx for macOS and Linux it's different and the graph is never shown on startup and has

Re: RAM Disk crashes

Sorry, without a crash dump there is no way to tell what happened.

Re: RAM Disk crashes

9 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

If that's the latest version, your OS should have created a minidump in C:\Windows\Minidump\*.dmp. Please send us the minidump in a ZIP file and we'll be able to see what happened. If that's an older version, please try installing the latest version first.

Re: Question on licensing for older versions

9 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

We don't keep older free versions available for download anymore. However they can still be found on other web-sites. Just make sure you are using a reputable site and the files you are downloading are safe. Sharing the freeware versions with family/friends/colleagues is also perfectly legal. Software licences cannot be changed retroactively. In other words, what was freeware stays freeware, e

Re: Quota Notification for user of Rule setup for Range

10 months ago, by Andrew in Bandwidth Manager Forum

For e-mail notifications, it's not really possible as a user's e-mail is specified per rule. Whatever IP address within that rule has used up the quota, the e-mail is sent to the e-mail specified in the rule. For web-browser notifications, using the Suspended rule trick (last example on the page), you would need to use enable tracking by IP address in the rule's settings, so each IP address ha

Re: WiFi Guard is not detecting devices

10 months ago, by Andrew in WiFi Guard Forum

Your router may be using a so-called wireless client isolation or session isolation, which means that the clients cannot see each other between the 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands. There should be a setting in the router's web-interface to turn this feature on and off.

Re: Is entering password into email alert settings a security risk?

10 months ago, by Andrew in WiFi Guard Forum

It is the same risk as with entering a password into an e-mail client like Thunderbird. Theoretically it can be extracted from there, if someone has access to your files. You can probably use your ISP's SMTP server if it doesn't require authentication when accessed from the ISP's network. It that case no password would be needed.

Re: Increasing live display scan speed

10 months ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

Yes, we've just added multi-threaded background scanning in these builds: Installer, Portable. It uses 1/10th of the maximum thread limit, so with the default setting of 50 threads, background scanning would be performed with 5 threads. That would be 5x times faster than before. It now also respects the Scan in random order setting and if set, devices are scanned in background in a random o

Re: One or more volumes could not be mounted. Link creation failed. 5 Access refused

10 months ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

Looks like you're using a pretty old version (3.4.7 ?) - it did have an issue with removing drivers on Windows 10. Here's a guide on how to remove the drivers manually. It's likely that you will need to reboot after deleting the registry keys to be able to delete SYS files.

Re: NetWorx greatly loads CPU

10 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Sorry, not much progress with this. We've found that high CPU usage is caused by NetFilter's DLL, which servers as an interface between NetWorx and NetFilter's kernel driver. Unfortunately due to its complexity and being a third-party product it's pretty hard to pin-point what's exactly happening there. No solution for now I am afraid.

Re: Ignore local traffic within the LAN results in Driver Operation Error

10 months ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

This indicates an issue with the driver that NetWorx uses to filter out LAN traffic, which could be a conflict with antivirus software or something else. If you had previously chosen to install the TDI driver when installing NetWorx, try reinstalling it and choose to install the WFP driver instead, then reboot. If you had previously chosen the WFP driver, try installing the TDI instead, and re
