Re: Task Manager crashing - how to solve

11 years ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

This issue has been fixed in this new update. For some reason Windows 8 Task Manager doesn't like standalone volumes and crashes. It however seems to work normally if you create a RAM disk with complete HDD emulation enabled, which is a new option in this version.

We have fixed a number of issues in version 3.0.2 available from the BWM home page, including this one with chaining domain names. Please give it a go. As to the torrent detection, well it uses heuristics and there is no guarantee it will always catch it. It however improve over time. Alternatively you can use "Penalties" that allow you to discourage heavy downloads regardless of prot

Scanner is hanging on specific devices

This tends to happen with some devices (I mean devices with a custom TCP/IP stack unlike regular computers). My best guess is that the device they don't answer a request in a timely manner and Windows waits indefinitely for it to complete.

Re: Running Networx as a Service

We are going to add this in the future, but it cannot run as a service at the moment. You can however use SRVANY or a tool like FireDaemon to run it as a service.

Statistics report all interfaces even though explicitly disabled

The Networks button lets you exclude certain networks from monitoring. It detects all networks that you connect to and identifies them based on the MAC address of the default gateway. You can either monitor all networks that you are roaming in, or specify networks to monitor. It's not the same as which adapter to monitor. As you have your 3G dongle connected at the same time as the WiFi router

Re: Some hosts missing username, model, processor or serial number

11 years ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

It could be virtually anything, but often a firewall or more likely a lack of privileges (Windows 7 and higher have tighter default security settings). If you have some networking experience, launch WireShark and see what responses the network scanner receives (if it receives anything at all).

I remember about the refresh thing and we'll do it as soon as more priority tasks have been done. In the mean time, we have added an option to specify domain names, which could be especially useful for banning certain web-sites. Domain names can be specified in a rule or in a group in the form of domain.tld. Any sub-domains will match it too. For example facebook.com will match facebook.co

It means the file has somehow been damaged. Just delete the empty CFG file and a new one will be created.

Hi Gavin, I think I know what the problem is. It currently does not work properly if you have Any-to-Any rule. Instead, create a rule with the source as the IP address range that covers your LAN, like this: In this case BM will correctly swap MAC addresses where necessary and won't create ones for the BM machine itself.

Network Scanner cannot see logged user on Win7

That's probably tighter security settings in effect on Windows 7 by default, which prevent the network scanner from getting them.

problem with Networx charts

11 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

All connections means really all. In this case NetWorx enumerates all adapters in your system, including virtual ones and sums their usage up. If you happen to have a virtual adapter or some filtering software, the results will be incorrect. So choosing Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller is a good idea. NetWorx will monitor that adapter only without taking into account any irrelevant readings f

Re: Would router monitoring take care of all Internet traffic?

11 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

With NetWorx you basically have got two options: 1. Install NetWorx on every computer on your network. This can only be done if all your computers are running Windows. While NetWorx can only monitor traffic on the computer where it is installed, instances of NetWorx can talk to each other so that each instance is synchronised and shows the actual overall usage. The synchronisation needs t

That's a system prompt that the installer has no control over. It however can be easily suppressed. I am attaching our certificate, with which you will just need to launch the following command before installing the software itself: certutil -addstore "TrustedPublisher" sp.cer This will add the certificate to the list of trusted publishers and the system won't pop that confirmat

problem with Networx charts

11 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Not sure, but it seems there is some sort filtering software or virtual adapters present in the system. Try choosing the LAN interface connected to the router in the list of adapters to monitor in NetWorx, so it does not take into account any other adapters that may be present.

Synology diskstation monitoring

11 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

This can't be done because NetWorx only supports monitoring one device at a time. You can use the portable edition of NetWorx though. You could place another copy of NetWorx portable in a separate folder, and setup one to monitor your computer, the other to monitor your NAS. Then create a shortcut in the Startup folder to make the second instance start on system boot. You will have two copie
