Transparent graph background   06 August 2018, 11:20

Hi there,
with the latest NetWorx update (version 6.2.2) there is an interesting new feature listed in the changelog: "Added a new hidden setting to activate transparent graph background."

Do you mind sharing where to find this setting?

Thanks a lot,
Stefan

It is in a separate area called hidden settings, dedicated to infrequently used parameters.

To access the hidden settings, simply press Ctrl + O in the regular Settings dialog.

Please add full transparency for the tray graph and the upload/download counters too for Windows 7!

Thanks.

For some reason Microsoft implemented transparent drawing differently on Windows 7 and Windows 10.

It works like this, with a transparent notification area graph on Windows 10:

Looks great on Win 10, but I like Win 7. And I'm not the only one. wink
Maybe you can create two different deskband.dll? Or something else.
Really, transparent graph in tray important for me. It's just beautiful.

I totally agree with you that Windows 7 is a better system.

Thing is the transparent drawing API works in the notification area on Windows 10, but does nothing on Windows 7. If we find a way that works on Windows 7 as well, we will definitely add it to NetWorx.

I saw that same changelog and that hidden option to hide background was the reason I decided to give paid version a try (I have very old freeware one).
But I do not see it listed as an option now in any of the options (including hidden ones)? Was it removed?
It is great to have transparent background on Windows 11 taskbar, but I would also love to have an option to have transparent background for the on-desktop floating graphs as well. Is that still possible in the latest version?

Unfortunately graph background transparency became incompatible with the anti-aliased drawing that NetWorx is now using in order to be consistent with the appearance of the newer versions of Windows. So that hidden option was removed.

Instead please try the Window opacity option on the Graph tab in the ordinary NetWorx Settings. It is not exactly the same as the deprecated "Transparent graph background" hidden option, but hopefully you will be happy with how it looks for you.
