Re: Running portable Network Scanner from USB (licence question)

6 years ago, by bizmarkie in Network Scanner Forum

Ok, so the update will download the installable version and then you copy files from that to the USB drive to update it, right? I'm asking because if I'm in the field and all I have is the USB drive, it won't update any of the files on the USB drive itself, right? I need to do that somehow.

I have a question. In the portable version, will it update to a new version when one is available?

Slow column resizing

6 years ago, by bizmarkie in Network Scanner Forum

Hi, idk if theres something wrong with my computer, but when I drag/resize the columns, its very jerky. And there are 'tears' in the graphics update. Is that normal? Does anyone else see this or just me? You may need to add some columns to see it properly. thx!

Re: How to display uptime over LAN

I seen a network scanner that does uptime properly on PCs with no creds but I'm not into mentioning competitors here coz thas not bizmarkie cool. They say its comes directly from a "netbios" using boot date. Not sure which port. Its the only software I seen that can do it on all our PCs & servers except for ones completely locked down by windows firewall with no ports open

Re: Physical location of the port

Thanks! I did look at that and for 8 port switches, they just show the same numbers as the port numbers. Our 8 port switches are all single row. But my 16 port switches are usually 2 rows and I can't get info from them due to the trial I guess? you know how some port configurations are like this 1357 2468 some are like this 2468 1357 And then most 8 port switches are like this 123456

Physical location of the port

7 years ago, by bizmarkie in Switch Port Mapper Forum

Hello. I was wondering if maybe there is an snmp command available that says what physical position the port is on the switch? Then I'd know if the ports are 8 on top and 8 on the bottom, or one of those thinner netgear switches with 16 ports all the way across in a single row. They could be labeled T1, T2, B1, B2 for top and bottom. It would be great if there was a column in your software that

Evaluating this and wondered if there's a way to sort just the Client IP Addresses so they're in natural IP order?

Re: Netscan detected by AntiVirus

I have an update on this. For some reason the most recent version doesn't have a PUP alert. I contacted them and they said something about it being related to "dual signing" certificates. I don't understand it, but it's good it be working now!

Re: Netscan detected by AntiVirus

Well PUP is different from a virus. I think Virus Total isn't set up to report those, but it was set that way by default here for some reason. I told it to allow all network tools.

Netscan detected by AntiVirus

My AntiVirus detected Netscan as PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). I was able to add it to exceptions, but I was wondering why antivirus companies would call SoftPerfect Netscan (or other IP scanners like it) PUP, or hacking tool, etc? It only reads from the network in most cases, doesn't do anything nefarious, and I sure wouldn't call it much of a hacking tool. Also, have you contacted A/V comp

Identify devices and display their type

Hi, nice program. Can it figure out the type of device or PC? It shows a lot of little PC icons on the left, but I'm pretty sure I don't have that many computers! If not, plans maybe?
