Re: Failure to install on Win 7 64-bit

9 years ago, by Praxis in NetWorx Forum

QuoteChrisI agree deleting folder is a bad approach, but I had no other option since (after my first dud install) NETWORX was not listed in the Control Panel > "Uninstall or Change a Program" there was no "uninstal.exe" available in the folders where I installed networx. This looks like you thought that you were installing the Install version when in fact you were trying to

Re: Failure to install on Win 7 64-bit

Did you mean 'in' the same place? place = directory = folder? It's something that you did, not NetWorx. You can delete the folder with the portable, no problem, but you need to uninstall the installed version and because the uninstall.exe is in the folder which you deleted, it can't be run. What's your 'working' directory (or 'folder', really, only old mainframe folks use 'directory')?

Re: Beta-testers needed to test a new feature

Last test completed, I shut the PC down at 19:45, restarted at 02:00 the following morning (a few minutes ago) and the csv file was created and the e-mail was sent almost immediately. I'd set Networx to use KB and the separators are there. So I'd say this is ready for release, at least to Win7-Pro 64bit systems. Thanks Andrew, J

OK, I see your point, and I do have mine set to BYTE. I'll mull this over a bit and may change to using Kibi instead. So, thanks Andrew, I can appreciate that you're always improving Networx. I'm surprised that no one else has jumped in for the testing, I assume that you'd like to test with different OSs, certainly 8.0 or 8.1 and maybe even 10. Perhaps you could send some e-mails out.

Re: Beta-testers needed to test a new feature

Great news Andrew, the csv file was created at 8pm (20:00) and the e-mail at 8:01. So everything is working properly. A small request is that you provide the thousands separators if set to True in Hidden settings. Thanks, the best Beta testing experience that I've ever had . J

Re: Beta-testers needed to test a new feature

That's interesting Andrew because my stuff was created a few minutes before midnight, not a few minutes after midnight and not a few minutes after 8pm (20:00 which is UTC 00:00 offset by 240 minutes in Hidden Settings). I'll obviously see tonight at 8:01pm. You know what? And I can't be positive, but with the spread in time between the csv (23:47) and the e-mail (23:53) would that indicate t

Hi Andrew, The e-mail config screen works now, no popup error window when clicking . I did have the correct e-mail address in the List and those tests did work yesterday in spite of the popup error window error. The csv and HTML e-mails have the correct figures for the Beta for yesterday, at least they agree with the Usage Report. The csv file was generated on April 7 @ 23:47 and the e-

ok, i know why there were no figures, i noticed that the date was yesterday, and of course there was zero activity. more tomorrow when it's reporting apr 7. my guess is that it functions correctly with the exception of that warning screen which may throw users off a bit. better to get that fixed. oh, it also resets the smtp port to 25 after i changed it to 587 then if i try again it leaves 587

Re: Beta-testers needed to test a new feature

Hi Andrew, I ran a quick test of the Beta, first to connect to my wireless adapter and that was OK, but when I tried to connect to the router, I could not. I'd set my community name properly in fact I simply used the settings from an older portable that does connect to the router. I toggled the newest Hidden Setting re Physical adapters but that didn't work either way. The Beta didn't have

Re: Right-align option for columns with numbers in the Usage Report

Slightly off topic but you should open the Hidden Settings and then set the "Use thousands separator" to "True" which makes reading the figures a lot easier. This should be the default IMHO (Andrew???)

Re: How can I see if the connection goes down?

9 years ago, by Praxis in NetWorx Forum

Look in Control Panel > Network and sharing center for the "View active networks". If there's nothing there then you're not connected. Or hover over the network icon in the system tray and see what it says. Or try to open a page in the browser, and if you can - it's connected, if you can't - it's not (unless a firewall is in the way). And if all the above seems silly, describ

Re: Setting daily notifications for monthly quota

9 years ago, by Praxis in NetWorx Forum

Use two instances of Networx. At least one instance must be a 'portable' version. Instance 1 uses Quota = 5GB per month (5120MB). Warn if more than 95% used month-to-date. This also suggests the daily limit for the remaining days in your month. Instance 2 uses Quota = 170MB per calendar day (assuming a 30 day month, but this could be 28, 29, 30 or 31 days). Warn if more than 95% used fo

Re: NetWorx on SagemCom 1704

Can you log into the router and reset it's statistics to zero? If so, do that daily and you should be OK (unless your traffic is more than 2GB in which case you'd have to reset more frequently). Can yo get updated firmware for the router? My router rolls it's counters after 4GB which isn't a problem for me because I log out after every session and then when about to log in for the first time

Re: Why is the Application Tab empty?

did you follow the instructions?

Monthly statistics, limits, quotas and remaining traffic

9 years ago, by Praxis in NetWorx Forum

Right click on the systray icon and select Quota... Click on the Setup button Quota type = Monthly Traffic = All traffic Hours = Flat Rate Volume unit = GB Allowance = 6 click OK The My Quota window shows Used as a number and % plus the average daily usage for the remaining days in your month. You can also set a warning when you reach a certain percentage and get a pop up warning.

A warning re UPnP : http://www.securityweek.com/attackers-abuse-upnp-devices-ddos-attacks-akamai-warns I use SNMP and my router doesn't support UPnP so I can't look to see if it can be limited to just the local network or whether, when enabled, it's also accessible from outside. Of course I have my router set up to ignore any attempts to manage my router from outside my network and I hope it's

Re: WAN interface is empty

Michael, you said "...but only SNMP is selectable..." If you can see and configure SNMP in your router then use it. Set the community name to something secret (not "public" which is the default), port 161, then configure Networx Hidden Settings to use the same community name and port and you should see the router in the WAN interface drop down list. Hi Andrew, Since this question is asked so many times, perhaps putting a 'sticky' thread titled "Excessively high usage - select just one connection" would help... The body would contain the obvious rules of one connection or "Ignore local...". J

Re: Missing data usage figures

9 years ago, by Praxis in NetWorx Forum

What's the connection that you're monitoring? What's the difference in data? The ranges of IP addresses are for 'local' traffic that's to be excluded in Networx totals. If by chance the list covers an address used to connect to her ISP then you'd expect a difference. You can check the IP addresses used by running the command "ipconfig /all" without the quotes. Also, what &quo

Maybe you're not monitoring the correct connection. You should really provide more information when you post your question(s).
