Re: Animated usage bars on the graph

9 years ago, by Praxis in NetWorx Forum

The primary purpose of the program is to measure the 'usage' i.e. total up and download bytes expressed as bytes, KB, MB or GB. This is useful to verify that your ISP is billing you correctly. The secondary purpose is to show the "speed", which may be constant or may vary all over the place depending on: the plan that you subscribe to with your ISP (speed), how many users are sharing

Re: Animated Usage Bars on Graph

Only Andrew knows for sure but I think that the bars simply show the relative activity of Up and Down, with an instantly varying scale from bits to megabits and back again. Cute to highlight that there's activity but not of much practical use other than they're big enough to draw your attention to the graph. You can always turn them off if they're really bothering you. Re: Understanding the Notifications tab settings

Sorry, no other ideas. I'd suggested 587 because my e-mail provider made that change for security reasons and when some security software tried to use 25 it was considered as 'forwarding' (I think that was the terminology used). Maybe you should contact suddenlink and ask them if they have any ideas. J

Re: Measure Wi-Fi?

The best way would be to run your own test. While the PC is ON and monitoring the router, record the totals from the router, turn the PC OFF but leave the router connected to your ISP. While the PC is OFF, use your other wireless device for awhile so that the router records that traffic, then stop using that device. Turn the PC ON and check the totals from the router which should be larger due

Hi Rudy, Does your router provide usage by NAT address (individual PC) or simply total usage between the router and your ISP? I ask because: I have two PCs and, if both are active and both have Networx query the router for traffic and I sync their usage, then they both report the same total usage, which of course is 'double' and is therefore wrong. (It's OK, i.e. not doubled, if only one

Re: Adjust graph to reflect the use of the Time Zone Offset

Yes, that's right Andrew. I'd like the top totals of the most recent day on the "Day" tab to show in the graph. As soon as the "Day" tab starts to record the "next" day (the 28th in the screenshot) I'd like the graph to show the same totals. I know that if I wanted the total for a "Day", midnight to midnight local time, which isn't ever likely to happe

Adjust graph to reflect the use of the Time Zone Offset

9 years ago, by Praxis in NetWorx Forum

Hi Andrew, I've started using the "Time Zone Offset (mins)" with a value of 240 (4 hours) to represent the difference between UTC (Universal Time Clock) used by my ISP and local time EDST (Easter Daylight Savings Time) on my PC. This is working well with the Usage Report, at 20:00 it begins to report the Date as the "next day" and the traffic for that "day".

Re: Configuring "one-way" synchronisation

It's not clear what you want when you say "don't want the data usage on Main PC (192.168.1.2) to be synched with other PC's". If you don't want the other PCs to see the usage of the Main PC, open the Hidden Settings and change the address of "Sync broadcast address" to 0.0.0.0 which then will not allow the other PCs to access/sync the data for the Main PC. Re: Why is "unknown" a ghost?

9 years ago, by Praxis in NetWorx Forum

What is your ISP? They should maintain and make available detailed logs of your traffic by day at a minimum if you are always connected and your PC is always ON. If you connect/disconnect multiple times during a single day, they should have totals by each connection within that day. They must keep that information to support their charges to you. Have you contacted your ISP and asked for tha

Re: Why is "unknown" a ghost?

@ Ralph re-read my post from June 19, 2013. In that I state that the 'unknown' traffic is NOT showing up in my router totals. I used Networx to record traffic that appears to occur within the PC, i.e. the network adapter, AND I also recorded the traffic reported by my router (using SNMP). That's two independent measurements. I then compared those to my ISP's report. The router agreed, Networ

"tabernac" is a very bad word in Quebec, Canada. If you didn't intend to reflect this, you should change it to something more polite. Apart from that, I have no idea what your problem is... did you try uninstalling and then re-installing with the TDI driver? You could try the other driver... You could use the portable version with the WinPCap 3.1 driver.

Re: local quotas when using Synchronise usage data option

If A is your main PC it needs to query the B & C PCs for their usage. You then see an aggregate total and can also see totals by individual PC. You don't want to configure B to query A & C and you don't want C to query A & B. This will measure the usage on B & C to their individual quotas but you'll have to put up with seeing the aggregate total measured against your quota which y

Visual and sound alert = when ticked: the long empty box = name of a program to run if the conditions are met the box with 3 dots = opens up explorer to allow you to browse for the program name to go in the 'long box' the TEST = a way to run the selected program right now, to make sure that Networx calls it, and it runs, and it produces the visual alert and sound. Run = same idea J

Re: NetWorx slow down both upload and download speed

Hi Lars, The answer is likely that, with the Ignore local.... turned ON, Networx has to intercept each packet and check to see if 1) it's local and thus not count it or 2) it's not local and count it. so doing that does take 'some' time. Quite a bit in your case apparently. That time would be more significant the higher the connection speed, i.e. if you had only a 1.5Mbps connection
