Networx 5.2.8 crashes when ignore lan traffic is switched on

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

If it crashes to a BSOD it means there is a problem with the LAN traffic filtering driver that NetWorx comes with. In this case the only solution is to uninstall and then install it without the LAN traffic filtering driver.

One client doesn't list all users

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Most likely a firewall issue that prevents some of the NetWorx instances from syncing with the others.

svi file and exFAT question

10 years ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

There is no way to edit an SVI files. The file is essentially a header, followed by file system structures and then actual data. The only way to edit it is actually to mount it. As to the exFAT file system, we'll add it.

Remote registry: root key HKEY_CURRENT_USER not supported?

10 years ago, by Andrew in Network Scanner Forum

It's not supported because there is no current user when you connect remotely. What if there is no user logged on the target computer? In this case HKEY_CURRENT_USER would be undefined. What if there are two or more users logged on the target computer? In this case HKEY_CURRENT_USER would be undefined as well.

Monitoring a specific network

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

It's the MAC address of the default gateway. The network you are currently connected to is highlighted in green. To find out the MAC address of the default gateway, type at a command prompt: ipconfig Then type arp -a and look for the default gateway's IP address in the arp command's output.

Cisco VPN conflicts on WinXP?

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Possibly there is a conflict between the driver NetWorx uses to filter out LAN traffic and the Cisco VPN client. Unfortunately the driver is a third-party product and we cannot do anything about it.

traffic usage per application

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

"Unknown" may refer to an application that had established connections before NetWorx was started or whose name and path NetWorx was unable to determine. It would normally be little traffic recorded under "Unknown".

persistent image files

10 years ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

1) In this case writing to the RAM disk will fail and it's locked for the duration of the image save operation. The file system should never get corrupted though. 2) Incrementally. Only changes are written back to the image file.

No worries

Problems with v5.2.8

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Because 5.2.7 ignored VirtualBox adapters, but it had a side effect such as those adapters could not be monitored when needed, and in some systems with third-party filtering applications it also led to ignoring physical adapters. So 5.2.8 no longer ignores VirtualBox adapters. Yes, it will be possible in the future release to select whatever one or more individual adapters to monitor.

Belkin N300 Router

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

The community is like a password in SNMP. If the community ("password" in a request matches the community set in the router, the router would respond. Otherwise it would not. SNMP Virtual Server should work okay, and there should be a setting called community or read community somewhere in the SNMP Virtual Server's settings in your router. Perhaps if you post here some screen shots of

Networx 5.2.8 crashes when ignore lan traffic is switched on

Good news, I have been able to identify and fix this bug. It only appeared when the Ignore LAN traffic option was on, on Windows Vista, 7 and 8 and only on 32-bit. Please download the fixed build here: INSTALLER

On what system? Linux, Mac OS, Windows?

Problems with v5.2.8

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

You just need to choose ONE specific network interface to monitor in the settings. As installed NetWorx is monitoring all traffic on all network interfaces, possibly including local traffic or multiple adapters including virtual and dial-up ones and sums it all up. This results in incorrect readings.

Networx 5.2.8 crashes when ignore lan traffic is switched on

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

It would be helpful if you could run the following debug version of NetWorx. Simply replace your file NETWORX.EXE in the folder where you have NetWorx installed and make it crash. It will then allow you to send a bug report that would help me identify the issue. Make sure you replace your EXE file with the correct 32-bit or 64-bit version from this archive.

New beta version

Please be specific and describe what exactly error you are experiencing, as well what is your OS, 32-bit or 64-bit and whether you are using the new Hard Disk Emulation mode in the new version.

Bandwidth Manager 2013

Hi Gavin, On April 29 I was emailing new license keys for this version to everyone purchased BM. If you have not received a license key, simply drop me a line through support and I'll email your key again, so you then can run a licensed copy, not just a trial.

WinPCap/LAN driver question

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

That's right, when the Ignore LAN box is checked, it monitors all network activity through all available connections, so if you'd like to monitor a specific adapter, choose en entry from the drop-down list of interfaces. This would mean using WinPCap. It's okay to leave both drivers installed, they do not interfere or otherwise affect each other, so you can use WinPCap driver alone.

Bandwidth Manager 2013

Version 3 supports editing multiple rules at once. No need to go and edit each rule individually, if that's what you are asking about.

WinPCap/LAN driver question

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

It's up to you really. You can continue to use WinPCap which works better for some users. In this case don't tick the Ignore LAN option, instead choose an entry from the drop-down list of interfaces. Or you can tick the Ignore LAN option, in which case NetWorx uses its own driver and if everything works okay, you can remove WinPCap.

Re: Replacing old installed NetWorx with a new portable version

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Yes, copy your data files from (depending on your system) either c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SoftPerfect\NetWorx or C:\ProgramData\SoftPerfect\NetWorx and place them into the folder where you unzip the portable version.

Change X-axis on graph

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

This graph should update once you scroll the view above it, so it reflects what's displayed in the top view. As 1 hour worth of data, I stand corrected. It was one hour when I last looked at it, now it's 65535 seconds or about 18 hours.

Change X-axis on graph

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

There's per hour data as shown below. It's quite dumb as the rates are calculated as volume divided by time, but may suit your purpose.

Change X-axis on graph

10 years ago, by Andrew in NetWorx Forum

Not really, NetWorx only keeps 1 hour worth of data, so you can see your traffic up to 1 hour back. See here on how to do it under "Useful keys".

New beta version

10 years ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

Well it's a misdetection, however I do recommend to remove the trailing backslashes. Make it R:\Users\Michael\AppData\Local\Temp without a slash at the end. This warning message will be gone. When you have that extra slash at the end of TEMP-path it may also cause certain applications to fail.

Bandwidth Manager 2013

10 years ago, by Andrew in Bandwidth Manager Forum

This is topic is about version 3.x, which does support multiple streams per rule (with automatic creation based on IP or MAC address). So probably you won't need to use the groups at all with version 3.

New beta version

10 years ago, by Andrew in RAM Disk Forum

2Michael. This is because the new version will become 3.4 release, but the the meantime version 3.3.3 is the latest release. Just ignore this message as it's a dumb comparison of two strings. 2mwoffenden. What is shown on the screen if you choose Tools - Set Windows TEMP folder from the RAM Disk's main menu? Please post a screen shot if possible.
