Simultaneous scanning means the app will scan several devices at the same point in time. A higher number allows you to finish scanning faster, but it may require more resources, e.g. memory. In SoftPerfect RAM Disk we use differential writing: the data is stored in blocks of 2 MB, and only the blocks that changed since the image was last read are written back upon saving. The numbers are exported in bytes per second, regardless of the display settings that can be configured to show either bits per second or bytes per second. The conversion is pretty easy. As suggested before, you can try: Unchecking Check for write access on the Shares tab in Options. Unchecking all items in Remote File. Alternatively, you can set Max. thread run-time on the General tab in Options to something around 60 sec, and the application will attempt to terminate those stuck threads.

Unlike a real physical disk, a RAM disk is a software-created representation of a hard disk in memory, and it doesn't really exist before the system boots. Which means Windows must boot first, from a physical disk. You can however place virtual machine software on a RAM disk and boot other instances of Windows (or any other systems) in those virtual machines from the RAM disk.
