Re: Saving NetScan results to CSV using command line

6 years ago, by Ann in Network Scanner Forum

It may be just that you needed to wait a bit longer (a few minutes to finish scanning of certain devices). Another way of dealing with this issue could be setting the max thread run-time to 30 or 60 seconds in the config file: <maxruntime>60</maxruntime> This will make the app attempt to gracefully finish scanning any devices that are slow to respond; and if that fails, forcibly

Please see this article: Activation - How to enter the licence key

Re: How to add license key via command line

6 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

Yes, there is a way to install the licence automatically as a part of the configuration: Download this zip archive with a config template. Extract the CONFIG.XML file, open it in any text editor like Notepad, and insert your licence key where indicated. Place ramdisk_setup.exe and CONFIG.XML in the same folder, and launch it with this command ramdisk_setup.exe /SILENT /CONFIG=CONFIG.XML

Re: Cannot map network drives (no plus sign next to the drives)

6 years ago, by Ann in Network Scanner Forum

There can be a few reasons why there is no [+] shown next to the devices: Shared folder discovery is not enabled. Open the Shares tab in Options and check Scan for shared resources. The devices may not have any folders shared, or your user account doesn't have sufficient rights to access them. You can check that by typing the folloving line in a command prompt, replacing x.x.x.x with the target

Re: Licensed NetScan app has restricted output like a trial

6 years ago, by Ann in Network Scanner Forum

I am glad you have solved it. You are right: the licence key, as well as the configuration file, are stored under the profile of the user who runs the application. Another way of using the licence across several user logins is the portable version of the Network Scanner. In that case both the licence and the config files are kept in the same folder as the application, regardless of who runs it.

Re: How to get Windows and MS Office keys of the scanned systems

It should be possible by using the scripting feature, which in turn requires WMI. Try going to Options - Remote Scripting and using this script.

Yes, the Connection Monitor feature is already present in NetWorx and can be accessed via Tools - Connection monitor in the main menu.

Re: Detect and list all manageable switches in the network

6 years ago, by Ann in Switch Port Mapper Forum

Yes, the Switch Port Mapper can discover your switches and show them in a list, as long as VPN allows network access to those switches via the standard SNMP protocol. Of course you would need to specify the read community to discover the switches. It acts like a password and is usually set to "public". To try these features, download and run the trial version from the Switch Port Mapp

Re: Can I turn SSD into RAM disk

6 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

The Page File limitations are determined by the OS, in this case Windows. Tweaking it, even when possible, usually not a good idea: it may lead to severe instability of the system, unless the user really, really knows what they are doing. Whereas turning the entire SSD into RAM, as you are suggesting, would be totally pointless. Here are a few good reasons why: Enormous difference in speed.

Re: Can I turn SSD into RAM disk

6 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

You appear to be confused by two different concepts: hard disks (SSD in your case) and RAM disks. 1. Any computer disk (SSD, HDD, etc) can be used for Windows temp files, browser cache, or any other data. You can install any applications on your SSD, including MS Office and Adobe. This is how most computers work. You do not need the RAM Disk for that. 2. RAM Disk has nothing to do with SDD o

Re: RAMdisk size became limited to 4095 MB after Windows 10 1809 update

6 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

No, the old free versions (and the conditions of their use) will remain unchanged: they can be used for as long as the user wishes, but no further development or support is provided for them. Version 3.4 is five years old. RAM Disk has undergone significant redevelopment since then, including crucial improvements. If you prefer using the latest versions of Windows, you may have to reconsider yo

Re: RAMdisk limited to 4095 MB after Windows 10 1809 update - Fixed

6 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

Fixed: RAM Disk version 4.0.8 has been released and can now be downloaded from RAM Disk home page. It contains the fix for the Windows 10 1809 problem that caused errors for RAM disks larger than 4 GB. Before updating, please check your free update period in the RAM Disk's About menu.

Re: Failing to load images after Windows 10 1809 update

6 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

Gavin, you should still be able to mount images as regular disks via Image - Mount Image in the main menu and access your data. If mounting directly to a drive letter fails, it means the image file is corrupted, and the error is not related to the Windows 1809 update in your case. You may have to create a new image if the current one is broken. If mounting to a drive letter succeeds, the image

Re: Invalid letter string when creating RAM disk via command line

The command line format for console version ramdiskc.exe is different to that of the GUI module. Simply launch ramdiskc.exe without parameters to see its syntax. In your case, something like this should work: ramdiskc.exe /add:M /fs:ntfs /size:8G If however you wish to use the GUI module ramdisk.exe switches, please see this page about ramdisk.exe /switch:data line format.

Re: How to get data usage reports for each Ethernet and Wi-Fi router connection separately

6 years ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

Sorry we don't have a program for this, and I don't think it is technically possible. To be able to monitor usage per port on a router, there must be some software on the router itself that records what was received and sent on each port. On top of this, it needs to be able to distinguish the Internet data usage and the traffic when local devices just talk to each other without using any Intern

Re: Disk does not umount or gets deleted via SSH

6 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

That could be happening when the SSH session is isolated from the GUI session and the command cannot reach the running instance. Are you using ramdisk.exe for passing the commands? If so, we have ramdiskc.exe specifically designed for console and script use. It is located in the application folder. Any RAM disk created with the console version is not visible in the GUI and disappears upon s

Re: Delay in blocking the device when it reached its quota

6 years ago, by Ann in Bandwidth Manager Forum

Yes, there is a short delay. All usage is summed at 30-second intervals and then quotas are enforced. Therefore, occasionally users can exceed their quota by as much as they manage to download in the maximum time frame of 30 seconds. Usually it is not a problem as typical usage is scattered throughout the day rather than being one continuous download. If however you have such a case and/or hav

Re: Quota setup for satellite Interenet connections

6 years ago, by Ann in Bandwidth Manager Forum

Usually individual devices are identified by their MAC address. It is important to understand that the Bandwidth Manager (BM) software needs to be installed somewhere in your network where it can capture connections. Ideally between the router and the rest of the network. So perhaps it could be something like this: <Users> - <Switch and WiFi access points> - <PC with BM> - <

Re: How to set up router monitoring via SNMP

6 years ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

You are right about UPnP problems: many UPnP implementations come with a bug where they used a 32-bit integer for recording uploads and downloads. When they hit a 2 GB or 4 GB mark, the counters stop going up or turn negative, which can be seen as stopped monitoring. SNMP is usually more reliable in this regard. To enable it in your D-Link router configuration, most likely you just need to flip

Re: "Scan this many devices simultaneously" setting: what does it mean?

6 years ago, by Ann in WiFi Guard Forum

Simultaneous scanning means the app will scan several devices at the same point in time. A higher number allows you to finish scanning faster, but it may require more resources, e.g. memory. Leaving it somewhere in the middle is a good start. If you have a very fast computer with lots of memory, you can set it higher and see if everything still performs well. If you have an older/slower comput

Re: Saving RAM disk image: whole disk or only the changes?

6 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

In SoftPerfect RAM Disk we use differential writing: the data is stored in blocks of 2 MB, and only the blocks that changed since the image was last read are written back upon saving. If you change 100 KB, or even 1.5 MB, it would need to write 2 to 4 MB depending on how much file system metadata has changed and how many blocks the changed data spans (if a piece of data smaller than 2 MB happen

Re: How to install and launch the program on macOS

Below I have attached a screen shot showing that you'd first need to open the DMG program file that you downloaded, then either drag the NetWorx app into the Applications folder or launch it directly. When launched, NetWorx menu should appear in the menu bar near the clock:

Re: Two columns with identical names and /cols switch

6 years ago, by Ann in Network Scanner Forum

Sure, it is possible. What you could do is configure the app as required with columns, IP address ranges, etc. Then save the current config to a file (via File - Current Config - Save to File) and use it like this: netscan.exe /config:PATH-TO-CONFIGFILE.xml /cols:"IP Address;SNMP_Host_Name" /auto:"path-to-result.csv" As a result, column settings, IP address ranges and all ot

Re: Not detecting shared folders on some devices

6 years ago, by Ann in Network Scanner Forum

Without the [+] sign are either the devices that don't share any folders, or the ones that have been excluded. Try setting Options - Shares - Enumerate - All, as shown below. If still no shared resources are displayed, try opening a command prompt and typing the following lines. This way you will be able to see what error occurs when attempting to enumerate shared resources. net view \\19

Re: Download and upload numbers in exported reports

6 years ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

The numbers are exported in bytes per second, regardless of the display settings that can be configured to show either bits per second or bytes per second. The conversion is pretty easy. As 1 byte contains 8 bits and M means 1 million, to match the displayed numbers you need to multiply by 8 and divide by 1000000, i. e.: 13258991 * 8 / 1000000 = 106.07 1703936 * 8 / 1000000 = 13.63

Re: Creating RAMdisk with command line

These command line parameters work with ramdisk.exe and allow you to manipulate RAM disks configured in the running GUI instance. If you want to use ramdiskc.exe, which is a console version designed to be called from services or scripts, simply run it without parameters to see its syntax and usage examples as shown below:

Re: Disable renewal popup message to allow automatic scrips run uninterrupted

Yes, there is a way to turn it off. There is a setting in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SoftPerfect\SoftPerfect Connection Emulator\Global\RenewalReminderDate. It can be set to a value of some date in the future. This example of .reg file postpones the next notification date by year 2050: "RenewalReminderDate"=hex:00,00,00,00,a0,c0,ea,40

Re: Ramdisk SMB Share is not persistent

6 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

It looks like you omitted the disk type, as you can see in the CLI reference: Parameter type= defines a disk type, which can be either logon-time disk or boot-time disk. The former is mounted upon user logon, the latter is mounted upon system boot. The default value is logon. In your command line you created a disk that is only mounted at logon. It means it will be mounted much later when a
