Re: Current program activity

4 years ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

It is nice to hear that you like NetWorx and find it relatively easy to use. To see traffic activity per application, you simply need to open the Applications tab in Usage Reports: Though, I have to mention that this feature in only available in Windows installer version of NetWorx (i.e. this tab won't be present in Windows portable, macOS or Linux versions). Alternatively, if you use

Yes, the allocation unit size can be set in the Advanced Disk Properties (Add/Edit Disk - Advanced button):

Re: High latency on low bandwidth

4 years ago, by Ann in Bandwidth Manager Forum

That is probably the result of the queue build-up, where network packets from multiple connections are placed in the queue to conform to the 2 Mbps restriction. Let's say, even if the user opens just a web-page in the browser, it will establish 5-10 connections to fetch images and related resources. Each connection will try to occupy all bandwidth available, so to keep the rate under 2 Mbps, t

Re: How to customize taskbar display

I see what you mean. We'll take a look at it and update it for a better fit on a vertical taskbar. Please allow a few days for that to be done. I will let you know once the update is available.

Re: How to customize taskbar display

To customise, simply unlock your taskbar (click on an empty space on the taskbare and untick Lock the taskbar). Then you will be able to expand the extension and make it look like this:

Re: Suggestion: Add AES-256 support - Done

4 years ago, by Ann in Switch Port Mapper Forum

Update: we have fixed the "division by zero" issue and implemented AES-192 and AES-256 support (this is likely to work with Cisco devices only, since it's not a part of the standard). Until the next official release, you can download the latest build here.

Re: Suggestion: Add AES-256 support

4 years ago, by Ann in Switch Port Mapper Forum

Thank you for your feedback. We'll definitely consider your suggestion. As far as I understand, the official SNMP RFC only defines AES128, but it shouldn't be too hard to add AES192 and AES256; after all it's just a different key size. Regarding the issue you had with Cisco 2960X. The division by zero error suggests something went wrong or unexpected data was received from the switch. It's prob

Re: Traffic stream display in the system tray

Generally, for the real-time bandwidth information in the taskbar: The NetGenius Taskbar Extension must be selected during the installation. The installer attempts to enable the extension automatically. If that fails, it can be enabled manually by right-clicking an empty space on the taskbar and choosing Toolbars - NetGenius Extension. Please see the screen shots below for details:

Re: Filtering out applications the user is interested in

4 years ago, by Ann in NetGenius Forum

Thank you for your feedback. It is our new product and we welcome all suggestions on how we can make it better. There is a quick filter just above the apps view. You can type a few characters of the application name and also set it to show all applications. Then only the applications with the name that matches the filter will be shown. Please see the screen shot below. I believe the filter is n

Re: Restoring settings and database after the Socket Error

4 years ago, by Ann in Bandwidth Manager Forum

If the database was corrupted beyond recognition (which results in the SQLITE_CORRUPT error), I am afraid there is no way to recover it without a backup copy. This type of corruption suggests there may be a problem with your hardware, OS or disk file system, so you may like to check those and thus prevent other problems not related to Bandwidth Manager. For a complete backup, including all rule

Re: Free trial duration

There is no limitation on how long you can use the trial for, however each emulation session will be limited to 30 seconds in the free trial.

Re: How to unblock a blocked application

4 years ago, by Ann in NetGenius Forum

It's a good point. We will make it possible to see and unblock apps without having to run them in the next release.

Re: How to unblock a blocked application

To unblock an application and let it access the Internet again it needs to be running. Then it will be displayed when you choose All and you will be able to unblock it.

So far, we have been unable to re-create this problem in our tests. If any other users experience the same issue, please let us know. Hopefully, with the additional information, we will succeed.

Re: Operation failed with status code C0000098, Image header is corrupted or not accessible - Solved

I am glad to hear that mounting with an offset helped in your case. Thank you for letting us and other users know. Unfortunately, this issue manifests occasionally, and its cause is still unknown. It happens very rarely, but nevertheless... Mounting the affected image file with an offset using a utility like OSFMount still seems to be the best option for trying to salvage the data.

Re: Virtual IP addresses

4 years ago, by Ann in WiFi Guard Forum

WiFi Guard identifies network devices by their MAC address, since in most networks IP address are assigned dynamically by DHCP. If a MAC address hosts several IP addresses, they will all carry the same comment. There is a workaround though. You can edit the hosts file located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts. There you can manually assign domain-like comments to your static IP addresses

Re: How to add data quota to a specific IP address

4 years ago, by Ann in Bandwidth Manager Forum

The easiest way to add 1 GB to a specific IP's quota would be as follows: Create a new quota of 1 GB with the reduced rate set to Suspended. Create a new rule with 12.12.12.12 listed as the Source and link it with the above quota. Place this new rule above rule R1. As a result, 12.12.12.12 will be first handled by the newly created rule until its quota is used up. Once 1 GB has been used up,

Re: 2TB RAM disk is slow to mount

4 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

From your message, it is not clear whether you are using a 2 TB RAM Disk (as specified in the subject) or 1 TB RAM Disk (as specified in the message), but 10 minutes is a reasonable time even for 1 TB. Even though everything takes place in RAM, the driver needs to allocate and zero-fill a 1 TB chunk of memory. Dividing 1024 GB by 600 seconds (10 min) reveals that the driver allocates and zero-f

Re: Monitoring DSL link connection speed and status

4 years ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

The reason that the speed test doesn't work reliably on schedule is probably in some intermittent issue with a specific test server. I recommend downloading the latest version of NetWorx and selecting a different server in the Speed Meter window. Regarding monitoring your connection status, there is a dedicated Connection Monitor feature. With it you can get a notification when your connection

Re: Symbolic links to RAM disk - Solved

4 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

Thank you for letting us know about your solution. I am glad to hear that you found your culprit. Antivirus/security products are indeed notorious for creating problems in software operations that involve driver/hardware access.

Re: Symbolic links to RAM disk

4 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

It is possible that it requires some features of a complete hard disk drive with partitions, whereas USB-drivers and RAM disks are by default standalone volumes. Try ticking the Hard Disk Emulation option and see if that helps.

Re: How to get all hostnames to display on macOS

4 years ago, by Ann in WiFi Guard Forum

If you are interested in technical details, on macOS we use three methods to get device names: NetBIOS mDNS SNMP If a device does not reply to any of these, I am afraid its name cannot be determined. Since microcontrollers are lightweight devices, it's likely they don't support reporting their name. You may still be able to see their names in your router's DHCP lease list, but that's becau

Re: UDF 2.50 filesystem on Windows 8

4 years ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

It looks like Windows 8 API used by RAM Disk is not familiar with UDF 2.50. We have just tested it on Windows 8 and got the same results as yours. However on Windows 10 it works as expected, see below. You can either just disregard this (it does not really affect the functionality, as the file system is actually there, Window 8 just does not display its name correctly), or update to Windows 10

Re: What is a common share?

A common share is a shared folder that is not one of the following types: Administrative share is a special hidden folder (like C$, D$, admin$), automatically created by Windows and used in network administration. Write accessible share is a folder that the current user can write into. Restricted share is a folder that the current user cannot access. Shared printer is a printer shared on the

Re: Setting to send an email when an unknown device is discovered

4 years ago, by Ann in WiFi Guard Forum

WiFi Guard already satisfies both your wishes: The device limit setting you are referring to merely sets how many devices are to be scanned simultaneously, i.e. in parallel. It is otherwise known as the number of threads, and is there to give users a choice of how much of their computer resources WFG can use. It does not restrict the total number of devices that can be discovered in your network

Re: Gray taskbar icon and no network activity

This indicates that the network adapter previously chosen for monitoring is no longer available. To solve the problem, simply right-click the notification area icon, go to Settings - Main tab, and choose the correct adapter in the Monitored Interfaces drop-down list: If that does not resolve the issue, click the Networks button in the same pane and there choose All Networks to be monito

Re: Best suitable product for analysing data usage of multiple devices

4 years ago, by Ann in NetGenius Forum

In a common home network it can be difficult to get a comprehensive picture of your data usage, as it often consists of vastly different devices (computers, phones, TVs, gaming consoles, set-top streaming boxes, home appliances, etc). Whether you choose NetGenius or NetWorx, you can only monitor data on the computers where the application is installed. For example, if you have a Windows PC, Mac

Re: NMAP column data lost after saving and loading from XML

4 years ago, by Ann in Network Scanner Forum

The issue where some columns don't show up on system B when you transfer the data from system A is caused by different config files used in each system. For example, when on system A the network scanner is configured to have columns C, D, E, F, G, H, while on system B it is configured to have only columns C, E, H. What you need is to have identical configurations on both systems. So, to solv

Re: Missing Taskbar overlay
