Re: Page count in email notification

11 days ago, by Ann in Print Inspector Forum

This situation is due to how Print Inspector alerts are implemented internally. The monitoring service is constantly receiving updates about what's being printed, and as soon as the condition is met, an e-mail is created and sent, while printing of that job continues. For example, Print Inspector receives something like this: 1 page printed 5 pages printed 20 pages printed <- at this po

Re: Settings for testing VSAT internet connection

12 days ago, by Ann in Connection Emulator Forum

Yes, that's a reasonable expectation, as there is a relationship between Bandwidth-delay Product and TCP buffer size. You can check this article on the topic: How to Calculate TCP throughput for long distance WAN links. For a standard 64K TCP window it would be: (64K * 8) bits / 0.75 seconds = 699040 bits/sec = 0.7 Mbps. So with this latency the maximum achievable throughput is less than ei

Re: Virtual machine and cloud installation - choosing the right licence

27 days ago, by Ann in Connection Emulator Forum

A single device licence is sufficient for this scenario and should work fine. It supports cloud installation (in this context cloud = virtual machine). Our licences are not tied to any hardware. At SoftPerfect, we respect the fact that people may purchase new hardware or may need to reinstall the software for various reasons; so we prefer not to complicate life of our customers by using any so

Re: Scanning and monitoring network ports in Cisco equipment

Our Switch Port Mapper satisfies all the listed requirements, however I recommend to download a free trial copy and test it for a while to make sure it does everything you need and you are totally happy with the product.

Re: Data usage history: access and management

7 weeks ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

The usage records are kept indefinitely unless you delete the records or lose the database, say in case of a hard drive replacement. You can see what apps and IP addresses used the most data, but not specific pages on a web-site. This is available in the Applications and Web-sites report described at the bottom of this page. Regarding your other questions: Use the Reset button, it resets

Re: How does RAM Disk compare to other options?

7 weeks ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

We don't have any comparison with Linux, and a direct comparison would be difficult. For example we are not aware of any disk performance benchmark that would run on both Linux and Windows to make sure we use the same tool on both platforms. OS support-wise, yes it runs on Windows XP through Windows 10 (client OS) and Windows Server 2003 through 2016 (server OS). Regarding comparison to SSD

Thank you for reporting the problem. I am glad to advise that we were able to locate and fix this issue in version 2.0.8.

Re: Introducing lag in VR game

8 weeks ago, by Ann in Connection Emulator Forum

The Connection Emulator can definitely add extra latency to your network link, though that depends on how this VR equipment is connected. The software has to physically pass-through traffic to add latency to individual packets, so one way would be installing it on the sever (if it runs Windows) or on a intermediate computer through which the traffic is routed.

Re: How to reset forgotten password

8 weeks ago, by Ann in Print Inspector Forum

The forgotten password can be recovered by following these steps: Download SQLite Spy Launch it and load the Print Inspector database file, which should be located in C:\ProgramData\SoftPerfect\Print Inspector\Print Inspector.db Open the CONFIG table and you will see the password in one of the data rows

Re: Ability to create monthly quotas starting on different dates

We have added the billing period start feature in the Bandwidth Manager v3.2.5. It can be set on the Advanced tab in the Add/Edit Quota window of the Quota Manager:

Re: How to import rules from command line

2 months ago, by Ann in Bandwidth Manager Forum

There is a couple of ways to do it, but not via command line parameters: 1. Direct reading/writing of the database. We use a standard SQLite 3 database that can be read and written from many programming languages and environments. You can find it via the path shown under the Storage tab in menu File - Settings. Grab any SQLite management tool like SQLite Spy and you can read this database.

Re: Determine AD username

Try using the 'Lookup logged-on users' option (Options - Workstation tab). It should display who is logged at what machine if you run the Network Scanner under domain admin account.

Re: Ability to create monthly quotas starting on different dates

2 months ago, by Ann in Bandwidth Manager Forum

It is not directly possible in the current version, but we can add this feature. For that, we need to find out a bit more on how you intend to use it. Do you want to create one quota per customer or something like that?

Re: Monitoring "all connections" shows only a few kilobytes

2 months ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

This may be because NetWorx skipped your network adapter due to a so-called 'physical' flag not being set. This is relatively common with USB dongle/broadband mobile modems, and as a result, the USB dongle is not present in the drop-down list of adapters to be monitored in NetWorx. To work around this, please open the hidden settings as described on this page, scroll all the way down and set P

Re: Speed Meter: how to display and save results

2 months ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

To get the results in Speed Meter, you need to press the Start button and wait about 1 minute for the test to complete. If still no results are displayed after that, please attach a real screen shot of the window you actually see (not a partially wiped picture from NetWorx manual), and we will try to investigate why it doesn't work for you.

Re: How to specify a different recipient in e-mail notifications

2 months ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

That would be because NetWorx used the recipient address to fill both the recipient and the sender email headers. We have added a new setting that allows you to specify the sender address for outgoing emails. Now you can specify your Office 365 e-mail as the sender, which should make it possible to use different email addresses as recipients. You can download the new NetWorx build here.

Re: How to distinguish identical switches

2 months ago, by Ann in Switch Port Mapper Forum

During the discovery process the Port Mapper looks up switch's sysName and sysDescr, which are used to make a default name when the discovered switches are saved. Most switches store only their model name in sysDescr, but ideally they should have a different name in sysName. There is also sysLocation field designed to describe where the switch is located physically, which we have just added. I

Re: Multiple IP displayed for one MAC address

3 months ago, by Ann in WiFi Guard Forum

It is pretty common for some TVs to take up multiple IP addresses. It is unclear why they do it. We have received similar reports from Amazon Fire TV owners. Here is a discussion about Samsung TV taking over multiple IP addresses on the network. You can safely ignore these multiple entries, since WiFi Guard identifies devices by MAC address and it does not matter how many IP addresses were all

Re: Live / realtime ISP bandwidth monitoring

3 months ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

Sorry I am not quite sure what you mean by real-time bandwidth monitoring: If you are actively using your connection, then the bandwidth can be seen in the real-time graph. You can open the graph at any time and see if you are getting the promised numbers. If you are NOT actively using your connection, the connection is simply idling. The NetWorx app has no way of knowing what bandwidth is ava

Re: Converting packet loss percentage to BER

3 months ago, by Ann in Connection Emulator Forum

As far as I understand, BER is the likelihood bit errors, say when a 0 becomes 1 or vice versa, so I would recommend to use the Corruption tab, where you can specify the percentage of packets to be corrupted. The software will flip a random bit in a packet to simulate a transmission error or a faulty network device. Regarding the conversion, it is not possible to convert exactly. The BER of 10

Re: Monitoring Internet usage of each user

3 months ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

Generally NetWorx can only monitor traffic on the computer where it is installed. This is because for monitoring the per-user usage, any software needs to see the user data flow and be able to break it down by IP or MAC address, which is usually done by a program or script running on the router. It is possible with our Bandwidth Manager product, but it may require a change in the network confi

Re: How to enable Charging Options

Simply choose a specific printer from the Monitored Printers drop-down list rather instead of "All Printers", and the Charging Options menu should become available. Then you will be able to edit that printer's costs, and assign them to all printers if you wish.

Re: Discovered unknown cell phone logging in

The Network Scanner application is intended for network administrators and is quite sophisticated. For a novice or a home user it is better to try something simpler. If your aim is only to discover devices in your network, you may like to try WiFi Guard, or a basic app from another developer.

Re: Problem loading license file: Unable to read config

Re: How to delete the empty disk?

From this data, it is unclear what it relates to. I would not recommend deleting it, as could pose a risk of system instability. Based on the supplied information, we are not sure where that volume originates from. There have been no reports of a similar problem from any RAM Disk users in the past.
