Re: Win32 error code = 1784

1 year ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

Please make sure that you reboot your computer after the installation of the RAM Disk application when it prompts you. This is an important step and should not be ignored.

Re: Settings and data are not saved when the application is closed

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

This happens because Windows does now allow other applications to create files in system directories. Usually, a portable application comes as a stand-alone exe file. It works perfectly fine on its own, but for it to be able to remember your data, it needs to create other file(s) and write that information there. In your case, because you placed the portable NetWorx into "C:\Program Files

Re: Very high traffic usage reported for VPN

1 year ago, by Ann in NetGenius Forum

It is a common issue with VPN clients, because they intercept network connections from other apps, encrypt them and then send within a secure tunnel. This causes repeated counting of the same traffic. You may be able to fix this issue by disregarding NordVPN traffic. For that, switch to All processes at the top of NetGenius window, then select each of the NordVPN processes (entering 'nord' in t

Re: How to decrease the size of a RAM disk with an image

1 year ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

Yes, as the size of the RAM disk that is associated with an image is determined by the size of that image file, you can decrease or increase its size by following the same procedure. So, if you create a 1000MB image and add its path in the properties of the disk, the disk will automagically assume the size of 1000MB. The same will happen if you create a 500MB image. The two things to keep in mi

Re: How to increase the size of a RAM disk with an image

1 year ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

For maximum performance, the best choice would be an exFAT image used in a RAM disk without hard disk emulation: exFAT normally is a little faster, as it has a simpler structure compared to NTFS. NTFS includes extra data and functions for a greater reliability, but this has a lesser importance for the volatile nature of a RAM disk. Hard disk emulation is only beneficial for the applications tha

Re: "File not open" error message when testing email

That is correct: the build number is not shown in the application, only the version. When the new features an/or fixes are included in the official release, the version number changes and it becomes available for download on the WiFi Guard product page.

Re: What are the risks of an inadequate RAM disk size?

1 year ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

Another thing you could do would be to set the browser to clear its cache, cookies and other temporary files when it is closed. This would further decrease the chance of running out of space or seeing any errors, especially if you tend to close your browser occasionally during the computer use session rather than keeping it open from startup to shutdown. As a bonus, this would improve the privacy

Re: exFAT in not listed as an option for my RAM disk

1 year ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

Most likely that is because you chose "Hard Drive" image type when you were creating the image file. But when you were creating the RAM disk, you left the "Hard Drive Emulation" option unticked. In this case the image will have a partition table on it. But when it is mounted as a standalone drive, Windows will not be able to recognise the file system. Therefore, you need to

Re: How to increase the size of a RAM disk with an image

1 year ago, by Ann in RAM Disk Forum

No, it won't work like that. Because when you are creating a RAM disk based on an image, the disk size parameter is irrelevant and should be left blank, and the size of the RAM disk is determined by the size of the image. To increase the size of RAM disk with an image: Create a new image file of the size you want via Image - Create Image in the main menu (if you are making the image larger, m

Floating point error when choosing fixed Y-axis scale - Fixed

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

Yes. This error has been fixed a couple of weeks ago. Please download the latest build, install it over your current NetWorx, and the problem will be gone. This fix will be included in version 7.0.3. After that, it will be available for download on NetWorx product page.

Re: How to redirect users to an HTTPS web-page

1 year ago, by Ann in Bandwidth Manager Forum

Redirecting HTTPS is very different to redirecting HTTP. Essentially this would need to employ a man-in-the-middle technique. For example, if a customer requests https://www.google.com, the browser expects a certificate matching that domain name, which of course only Google has, and which is the whole point of HTTPS. The redirect may instead reply with a self-signed certificate, basically saying,

Re: Possible memory leak

Unfortunately we have been unable to reproduce this issue so far. For the time being, you might like not to keep that window open 24/7.

We have added dark mode support in the latest builds.

Re: Error "Memory volume creation failed"

Please make sure that you reboot your computer after the installation, when the RAM Disk software prompts you. This is essential.

Re: Hidden Settings - full list and description

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

The data is saved into Graph data file in bytes per the time period specified in Graph data period, which has the default value of 1 second, and which in turn leads to the bytes/s being the default speed unit for the data in the file.

Re: Hidden Settings - full list and description

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

The Hidden Settings can be accessed by opening the regular NetWorx Settings window and then pressing Ctrl+O (that's letter "O", not zero) while that window is open and active. This will open the Hidden Settings dialog where you can fine-tune NetWorx further: Currently, there are the following settings and values: Smooth graph (True or False). Makes the graph curve look smoother

Re: "Ignore local traffic within the LAN" option in the new version

The "Ignore local traffic within the LAN" option is still there, in the Settings, on the Main tab. It now simply has a slightly different description: "Monitoring of applications. This will also exclude local network traffic."

Re: How to close the graph via right click and remove its buttons

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

Thank you for your feedback. We have added two new menu items as shown below. One closes the graph, the other shows/hides the toolbar. Note that the 'Close' item will only be shown when the graph does not have a title bar. We have also updated the app to show the Y-axis as follows: On the right for a right-to-left graph. On the left for a left-to-right graph. Please download the fresh b

Re: Graph fading on mouseover

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

The fade feature is not available in version 7 due to cross-platform limitations. If you absolutely need the graph to fade away when mouse is over it, you will need to downgrade to version 6. However, if you don't require the fading per se, but rather wish to be able to quickly show and hide the graph, there is a simple solution in v7: set up a global hotkey to show/hide the graph any time you

Re: NetGenius shows different download and upload speed compared to NetWorx

1 year ago, by Ann in NetGenius Forum

It depends on how you have configured NetWorx. If it is set to ignore LAN traffic and monitor apps, it may interfere with NetGenius monitoring. If you want to use both NetWorx and NetGenius at the same time, then NetWorx should be monitoring your network adapter rather than apps. Specifically, this means: In NetWorx v6 and below, the "Ignore local traffic within the LAN" option must

Re: Suggestion: Black & white menubar icon for macOS

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

That's a good point. Thank you for the suggestion. We have just updated the app so that its menu bar icon is now greyscale and a little smaller, to match the rest of macOS icons. Please download the new build and enjoy the fully monochrome menu bar.

Re: Excluding certain times from being counted

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

That can be easily done. You can mark the 3am to 6am hours either as 'unmetered' or 'off-peak', depending on your personal preferences. The 'unmetered' times are not shown in reports (but are still recorded), while the 'off-peak' periods are recorded and shown separately from peak times. You can change this setting at any time, and it will update your reports accordingly.

Error when choosing to monitor an adapter - Fixed

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

Thank you for reporting this issue. The multiplying Hyper-V adapters probably stem from the fact that the system assigns them new IDs upon each boot, so they keep adding up. This is not an issue as such, but we will look into it later. The crash however is related to a recent code change and we have just fixed it. Please download the latest build, install over your current installation, and

Re: Adding usage numbers in the Reset window

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

Thanks for reporting this issue. We have just re-tested it, and it worked fine when a network adapter was monitored, but not when NetWorx was monitoring apps. That's likely to be your case and it was a bug indeed. It happened because we needed to create a "dummy" app record in the database. Now a reset operation will create a dummy record as if the reset numbers were downloaded/uploaded

Re: Local PowerShell

1 year ago, by Ann in Network Scanner Forum

This can be easily done with a custom VB Script that launches the command and captures its output into a column. Simply do the following: Open Remote Scripting via Options - Remote Scripting. Create a new item and load the below script. This gives you a lot of flexibility with launching any console command and with post-processing its output as required. In the Network Scanner application you

Re: Second graph opens on icon click

1 year ago, by Ann in NetWorx Forum

As you may be aware, version 7 is a total rewrite of the product that has been in existence for 20 years. The option to make the graph transparent by hovering the mouse pointer has not been implemented (yet). If there is more demand for it from our users, we will implement it, but otherwise we'd like to keep the product as simple as possible. From your description, it sounds like you wish to ke

Re: Local PowerShell

1 year ago, by Ann in Network Scanner Forum

Could you please clarify how you'd like this to work? At the moment, you can add this command to the list of applications (Options - Applications), and it can then be executed against any host name (via Open Device context menu), as shown below. Did you want something different?

Re: Find out which accounts have local administrative rights on each PC

1 year ago, by Ann in Network Scanner Forum

It is hard to tell what's causing this in your case. This particular feature merely calls a Windows API function NetLocalGroupEnum, and for some reason it fails on many of your machines. We could add some code to display what error it returns, but it will likely return something like 'access is denied' without an explanation why. If you have WMI enabled and working on your computers, you could
